Kiwifruit tips

Kiwifruit will ripen at room temperature in three to five days. The
fruit is ripe when slightly soft to the touch, like a peach. The
firmer the flesh, the more tart the flavor will be. Ripe kiwifruit
can be stored for two to three weeks when placed in a sealed plastic
bag in the refrigerator. Plastic is important to prevent moisture
loss.

Do not store ripe kiwifruit near ethylene-producing fruits such as
apples, bananas or pears. These fruits trigger and speed the ripening
process. On the other hand, to hasten the ripening process, store
kiwifruit near apples, bananas or pears.

To peel kiwifruit, first cut off one end with a paring knife, then
peel skin end to end.

The easiest way to serve kiwifruit is to cut it in half and scoop out
the emerald-green flesh with a spoon.

When using kiwifruit as an ingredient in blended drinks, add it last.
Whirl on and off until well mixed but make sure the seeds remain
intact (broken seeds may make drinks taste bitter).
