When I got to the airport, I took my blood glucose (BG) reading. It was way high, 278.
The FAA wants me to check my BG before and during my flying. If it is greater than 100 and less than 300, I am ok to fly. At least according to the FAA.
My doctors and I want my BG between 80 and 180.
Since the reading was so high, I gave myself an extra insulin infusion.
I checked my BG again, 10 minutes later and it was already down to 220 and descending.

It was a nice day to fly. There were some scatterd clouds and a light wind from the north.

It was a little hazy as I was headed for St Louis Downtown Airport.

I did 3 touch and gos here. There was other traffic in the area and the pattern but Tower kept us separated and I didn't have any problems.

Flying past Glen Carbon, you can see the Mall area and Cassens car dealership.

After flying out towards my house, I turned back towards the airport and did 3 more touch and gos.

St Louis Regional Airport (ALN) at Alton, IL

Looking back towards the North and the Mississippi River

I approached from the southeast and after checking the weather, decided to use runway 36. It is longer and the wind was from 320 at 9.
I did 3 touch and gos. There was a Biplane passing by as I went around for my last t&g.

St Charles County Airport-Smartt Field (SET) at St Charles, MO

BiPlane leaving the area

This airport closed July 1. I use to fly out of here when LangaAir closed at Alton.
The flight school here, St Charles Flying Service, has moved to St Charles County Airport.

St Charles Municipal Airport (3SQ) at St Charles, MO - CLOSED

St_Charles_Municipal_Airport01
St_Charles_Municipal_Airport02

It is 12.7 miles from Smartt field to Creve Coeur Airport but I flew a bit wider to be able to enter a left downwind for my touch and gos on runway 34.
I reported 8 to the northwest, inbound for touch and go on 34. There was another plane inbound ahead of me.
I spotted him and said I was number 2 and had him in sight.
I turned base when I he was passing me on final.
I turned final just before he touched down. Unfortunately, he landed long and had to roll down to the second exit. I executed a go around, full power, partial flaps retracted, climbed back up.
I went around and did my 3 touch and gos just fine. You always have to be ready to not land.

Creve Coeur Airport (1H2) at Creve Coeur, MO

Creve Coeur is only 7.8 miles from Spirit of St Louis Airport so as I took off from Creve Couer and climbed up to 2,000 feet, I was already thinking about Spirit.
When I was at about 1,400 feet and would have been turning downwind, I called Spirit Tower and said I was airborne off Creve Coeur, inbound for touch and gos, with Delta. Tower told me to make straight in for 26Right.
I did 2 touch and gos then told Tower the next would be to a full stop, parking at Air Associates. Tower cleared me to land.

I ended up doing 14 touch and gos and 1 landing today, visited some of my "old" airports and was comfortable flying by myself again. All in all, a nice flight.
