This was a return from from Schaumburg, IL and Lunch at Pilot Pete's after adding new airports in Wisconsin.

Jenny and I had a nice lunch then headed back downstairs to the FBO.

I paid for the fuel I had requested and we went out and did our pre-flight.

While I was doing my pre-flight, Jenny was doing hers. It was a very thorough check.

When we were ready, I tried to check the weather on the radio but couldn't pick it up. I looked at the windsock and the wind was still blowing from the northeast so I decided to use runway 11.

I reported taxiing for departure on runway 11 and headed out.

I did my runup and final checks at the hold short line and reported rolling onto runway 11, departing to the south.

I pushed in power and we were up.

I climbed up to about 1,000 feet before turning south. I needed to stay out of Dupage's airspace so I was planning on flying south towards the highway then turning towards Spirit, unless Chicago Approach cleared us before.

I climbed up to 1,500 feet (I had to stay below 1,900) and flew along.

When there was a lull in the traffic with Air Traffic Control, I called and asked for flight following to SUS, giving my position, altitude, and requested altitude.

By the time ATC cleared me to procede on course, I was almost to my first checkpoint, the highway.

I climbed up to 6,500 feet and headed for home.

There was lots of other traffic, lots of it big planes, but nothing caused us any problems.

We flew along and were handed off from Chicago Approach to Peoria Approach, to Springfield, to St Louis.

On the way up, there hadn't been much tailwind, 2-4 knots. On the way back, we had 10-15 knot headwind. It's not fair.

As we got closer to St Louis, I checked the weather at Spirit. It was reporting wind from 060 at 5, clear.

When St Louis handed us off to Spirit Tower, tower told us to plan on right downwind for runway 8Right. I acknowledged but was surprised since I normally get 8Left.

When I was on downwind, Jenny said to ask Tower if we could have 8Left. I called and Tower cleared us for 8Left.

I continued my downwind and when I turned base, I just extended it from 8Right to 8Left and turned final for runway 8Left.

I got lined up and touched down nice and smooth.

I pulled off at Echo 3. Tower cleared me to the ramp, via Echo. I acknowledged and pulled straight in.

I parked on the flight line and shut down.

While I got my times and cleared out the plane, Jenny tied down the right wing and tail.

I got out and tied down the left and we headed inside.

It was a beautiful day, a nice flight to Wisconsin, 5 new airports, and lunch. All in all, a good day.
